Job Description
A mission-driven, multi-site behavioral health organization in Western Massachusetts is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. This organization is a cornerstone of care in its region, delivering comprehensive mental health, substance use, crisis, and community-based services to thousands of individuals and families each year.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will play a critical role in guiding financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and long-term strategic planning. You’ll partner closely with clinical, operational, and board leadership to ensure resources are aligned with mission and regulatory requirements in a highly dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and audit
- Oversee funding streams including Medicaid, state contracts, grants, and other public sources
- Provide strategic financial insight to support expansion of services and programs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations
- Optimize revenue cycle management and reimbursement processes
- Partner with executive leadership on capital planning, investments, and risk management
- Present financial performance and strategy to the Board of Directors
Ideal Candidate
- Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or complex nonprofit environments
- Deep understanding of public funding mechanisms (e.g., Medicaid, state contracts)
- Experience managing multi-entity or multi-site financial operations
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at the executive and board level
- Track record of driving financial transformation and operational improvements
- CPA or advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or similar) preferred
