Job Description

Special Education Teacher
Location: Institutional Setting – Massachusetts
Schedule: Full School Year Monday–Friday 
Hours: 8 Hours/Day
Pay: $65 -70 per hour | Benefits Eligible

 Arbor Associates is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and strategy support to students in secure settings. This role is ideal for educators passionate about equity, trauma-sensitive teaching, and helping high-risk youth reach their potential.

What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver engaging, skills-based lessons aligned with student IEPs.
  • Provide differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Build culturally responsive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, host agency staff, and families to support student growth.
  • Develop and track IEP goals, progress notes, and transition planning activities.
  • Implement social-emotional learning strategies and support positive behavior.
  • Participate in professional development, team meetings, and statewide testing.
  • Maintain accurate student records, reports, and data to drive improvement.


Job Requirements

What You Bring
Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
    • Massachusetts Teacher Licensure in Mild-to-Moderate Disabilities (5–12) - Willing to accept a waiver as you wrap up this process. 
    • Commitment to working with high-risk youth and promoting social justice
    • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
    • Reliable transportation to meet travel needs

Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in education or related field
  •  Experience with high-risk youth
  • Multilingual/multicultural background
  • Some lifting up to 25 lbs, travel between floors, and physical movement between classrooms are required
  • Must remain alert and responsive in a fast-paced, secure environment
