SPED Substitute Teacher – Upcoming School Year

Providence, RI | Substitute Position

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the classroom teacher.
• Provide appropriate instruction and classroom activities.
• Supervise and support students throughout the school day.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behavior using appropriate strategies and school guidelines.
• Take attendance and complete other classroom responsibilities as needed.
• Communicate with school staff regarding student needs or classroom concerns.
• Keep students engaged and on task.
• Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• RIDE SPED Teaching certification is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
• Dependable, professional, and adaptable.
• Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
• Comfortable stepping into different classroom environments and following established lesson plans.
• Commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
