SPED Substitute Teacher – Upcoming School Year
We are building a pool of dependable and enthusiastic SPED Substitute Teachers for upcoming opportunities throughout the new school year. This is a great opportunity for educators, recent graduates, retired teachers, teaching assistants, and individuals interested in gaining classroom experience.
Substitute teachers play an important role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment when a classroom's regular teacher is unavailable.
Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the classroom teacher.
- Provide appropriate instruction and classroom activities.
- Supervise and support students throughout the school day.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
- Manage classroom behavior using appropriate strategies and school guidelines.
- Take attendance and complete other classroom responsibilities as needed.
- Communicate with school staff regarding student needs or classroom concerns.
- Ensure students remain engaged and on task.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- RIDE SPED Teaching certification is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
- Dependable, professional, and adaptable.
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Comfortable stepping into different classroom environments and following established lesson plans.
- Commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
