Nurse Supervisor

Job Description

  • Position Details 
    • The Nurse Supervisor ensures the health and safety of individuals by assessing their nursing needs and providing prescribed medical care. This role focuses on supporting five adults with developmental disabilities. The location is in Norwood, and the Nurse Supervisor will oversee care for 5 patients, whom are wheelchair-bound with limited mobility. This is a 6 month contract with the potential to convert to a permanent role.  
    • This role is onsite from Monday - Friday 8am to 4pm.
    • Key Responsibilities
    • Team Leadership and Coordination:
      • Supervise and coordinate the activities of clinical staff, including RNs and LPNs.
      • Establish and manage clinical team schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage, including temporary and substitute staffing.
      • Conduct performance evaluations, approve timesheets, review time-off requests, and manage staffing changes.
    • Staff Management and Training:
      • Lead clinical team interviews, onboarding, orientation, and training.
      • Provide ongoing education on clinical protocols, policies, and procedures.
      • Address and resolve performance issues or concerns.
    • Patient Care and Compliance:
      • Deliver skilled nursing care, assessments, and education to individuals as prescribed by healthcare providers.
      • Ensure timely reporting and follow-up on medical concerns or complaints.
      • Coordinate medical appointments and provide or arrange nursing support during visits.
    • Policy and Documentation:
      • Maintain compliance with Human Rights, D.P.P.C., Department of Developmental Services, Division of Medical Assistance, and company policies.
      • Ensure adherence to DPH MAP policies and maintain adequate clinical supplies and functioning equipment.
    • Stakeholder Communication:
      • Act as the primary contact for families, guardians, and other support teams.
      • Attend meetings, ISP reviews, significant medical appointments, and case conferences as needed.
    • Vendor Coordination:
      • Establish and maintain relationships with nursing staffing agencies for emergency or substitute coverage.           
    • Supervisory Responsibilities
      • The Nurse Manager will oversee all clinical team members, including RNs, LPNs, and substitute staff. This includes hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.

    • Qualifications
    • Education & Experience:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (RN) with at least 3 years of nursing management experience; OR
      • Associate’s degree in Nursing (RN) with at least 5 years of nursing management experience.
    • Licenses & Certifications:
      • Current Massachusetts RN license
      • Valid driver’s license and vehicle for work-related travel
    • Skills:
      • Strong leadership and communication skills
      • Ability to interpret clinical documents and write reports and correspondence
      • Basic math proficiency for medical and staffing calculations
      • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
