ABOUT THE SCHOOL
The school is an alternative education program in Barre, MA serving approximately 30 high school students. The school provides a hands-on, individualized learning environment designed to give students the experience of a public school education at their own pace. Class sizes are small — up to 8 students per class — and the program is led by a team of Master-level educators with 25–30+ years of experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead literacy assessment efforts across the high school program, tracking and reporting on student progress.
- Design and implement individualized literacy support strategies aligned with student needs and pacing.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers across subject areas to integrate literacy goals into instruction.
- Maintain assessment records and communicate findings to the education leadership team.
- Support students in an alternative education model focused on hands-on, self-paced learning.

QUALIFICATIONS
Licensure / Certification: Massachusetts teaching license or licensure in a related field preferred. Candidates in an active licensure program will be considered.
Education: Bachelor's degree required; English degree (K–12) required if not licensed. Master's degree a plus.
Experience: Background in literacy instruction, reading specialist work, or English/Language Arts preferred. Open to candidates newer to the field who demonstrate strong literacy knowledge.
Physical / Behavioral: Must be able to complete physical restraint training as part of onboarding. Must be able to remain on your feet in an active school environment.
