Lead Preschool Teacher
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary instructional leader in the classroom
• Lead day-to-day classroom operations, routines, and staffing coverage
• Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities
• Model best practices in classroom management, behavior guidance, and child engagement
• Ensure full compliance with policies, EEC licensing, and health and safety regulations
• Observe, assess, and document children’s progress and developmental milestones
• Communicate consistently and professionally with families regarding child progress and classroom updates
• Mentor, support, and collaborate with Assistant Teachers and classroom staff
• Partner closely with the Assistant Director on classroom planning, documentation, and quality improvement
• Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment
• Uphold confidentiality for children, families, and staff
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development (minimum 20 hours annually)
- Knowledge and sensitivity to the diverse educational and social needs of young children.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and engage children.
- Ability to establish routines, set clear expectations, and manage a supportive learning environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Flexibility in adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learners.
Job Requirements
EEC Lead Preschool Teacher Certification (required)
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or related field
– OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 36 ECE-related credits
– OR Bachelor’s degree with Montessori Certificate
– OR State Educator License in Early Childhood (Pre-K–2)
• Current child and adult CPR/First Aid certification
• Completion of EEC 2.0 Strong Start (12 hours)
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
• Demonstrated experience leading a classroom and supporting teaching staff
• Ability to work effectively with diverse children, families, and colleagues
