Job Description

Arbor Associates is currently seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide overnight support in a residential setting for youth ages 8–18 with mental disabilities and behavioral challenges.  As an Overnight DSP, you will play an important role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment while assisting residents with daily living needs, promoting independence, and ensuring their health and well-being throughout the night. This position is ideal for individuals who are patient, reliable, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and teens.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide overnight supervision and support to youth in a residential setting
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, and feeding when needed
  • Monitor residents’ health, safety, and emotional well-being throughout the shift
  • Accurately document services provided, behavioral observations, and incidents
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment
  • Support behavioral intervention plans and therapeutic programming
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and incoming staff during shift changes
  • Promote dignity, independence, and positive social interactions
  • Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards
  • Respond calmly and professionally during behavioral or crisis situations
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a DSP, Residential Counselor, Youth Worker, CNA, PCA, Behavioral Health Technician, or similar role preferred
  • Experience working with children, teens, individuals with disabilities, or behavioral health needs is a plus
  • Must be dependable, patient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work overnight hours
  • Must be committed to providing respectful, person-centered care

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Direct Support Professional (DSP) 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with youth, individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or in human services preferred.
  • Comfortable working with youth ages 8–18 who have mental disabilities and behavioral challenges.
  • Current Physical examination required.
  • Current TB screening/vaccination required.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and assist residents as needed.
  • Ability to respond quickly during emergencies and behavioral interventions.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors when necessary.
