Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Location: North Branford, CT
Schedule:

• Friday: 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Sunday: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Arbor Associates is seeking a reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adult individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting in North Branford. This role requires consistency across a set weekend schedule and comfort working in a behavioral environment.

Please note: This position includes supporting personal care needs where female client privacy and program requirements must be maintained. Assignments will be made in alignment with those needs. If you’re steady, patient, and able to maintain structure in a behavioral setting, this is a strong fit.

• Provide direct care and supervision in a residential setting
• Support individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral needs
• Assist with daily routines, ADLs, and skill-building activities
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and follow behavior support plans
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and structured environment
• Accurately document shift activity and communicate with team members

• Minimum 6 months of experience in Direct Care or Human Services, or in roles like CNA, Residential Counselor, HHA, Mental Health Worker, Caregiver, child care worker, PCA, or similar.  
• CPR and First Aid Certification.  
• Willingness to obtain additional on-the-job training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) techniques, Medication Administration (MAP), or Safety Care as required for each worksite.  
• Reliable transportation & active, valid drivers liscense  
• High School Diploma or equivalent.  
• Ability to pass extensive background screening, including fingerprinting with agencies like the EEC or DDS.  
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as the role requires.   

Training Requirement:

• Must complete 3 days of weekday (day shift) training, followed by site-specific training prior to starting
