Clinical Director

Boston, MA

Posted: 04/14/2026 Employment Type: Contract Position Type: Clinical Director Job Number: 304372 Pay Rate: $125,000 $145,000

Job Description

Clinical Director

Boston / Waltham | Hybrid
Full-Time | Exempt
Salary Range: $125,000–$145,000

The Role

This role is built for a clinician-leader who sees outdated systems and thinks, we can do better. You’ll bring fresh perspective to a program that hasn’t meaningfully evolved in decades and partner with a senior leader who wants a true thought partner—not a yes-person—to modernize clinical supports for today’s youth. If you’re energized by rebuilding models, challenging legacy practices, and turning evidence-based ideas into real-world impact, this seat was designed for you.

The leader this role reports to is explicitly looking for a true partner—someone who can help evolve clinical supports to meet the realities facing today’s youth, not the challenges of 20 years ago. You’ll have both the runway and the responsibility to shape what comes next.

What You’ll Own

  • Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary clinical team, including licensed and post-graduate psychologists and social workers

  • Reassess and evolve clinical models, frameworks, and workflows to reflect current best practices

  • Ensure assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning are evidence-based, trauma-informed, and outcome-driven

  • Oversee crisis intervention, risk assessment, and emergency decision-making during the school day

  • Guide the modernization of social-emotional learning frameworks and PBIS-aligned practices

  • Establish meaningful metrics and outcome measures to drive continuous improvement

  • Partner closely with senior leadership to rethink, refine, and strengthen clinical supports

  • Supervise graduate-level clinical training and support accredited internship programming

  • Serve as a clinical consultant to internal teams and external providers

  • Collaborate with psychiatric services on admissions, discharges, and medication oversight

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, mandated reporting, and ethical standards

  • Champion professional development, cultural humility, and inclusive clinical practice

Job Requirements

What You Bring

  • Doctorate in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) OR Highly experienced LICSW Candidate

  • Active Massachusetts Psychologist Licensure in good standing

  • 5+ years of experience supervising clinicians in a therapeutic, school-based, or comparable setting

  • Strong grounding in trauma-informed care, crisis management, and verbal de-escalation

  • Expertise in psychological evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning

  • Confidence leading change in established systems without burning bridges

  • Ability to balance innovation with stability in high-acuity environments

Preferred Experience

  • Therapeutic day school or special education settings

  • Work with high-acuity, treatment-resistant populations

  • Program redesign, outcomes measurement, or clinical transformation work

Physical & Work Environment

This role operates in a highly interactive therapeutic setting and may require physical intervention with escalated students, including kneeling, lifting, and sustained physical engagement when clinically necessary.

Why This Role

This isn’t a “keep-the-lights-on” job. It’s an opportunity to thoughtfully modernize clinical practice, partner with leadership that wants change, and build supports that actually reflect what today’s youth need to succeed.
